Twin Town art exhibition, Minden, Germany June 20-21, 2015
“Die Bildner”, an exhibition in Germany featuring international artists from the twinned towns of Sutton in England, Apeldoorn in Holland, and Gagny in France was held for the first time in an extensive artists’ workshop just outside Minden. Ingrid Barber, mixed media artist and Jeremy Clark, ceramic sculptor were invited by Arts Network Sutton to show their work at the exhibition, which was held at a re-vamped ex-British army base. The twin town showcase was expanded by local artists opening up their workshops to display a wonderful range and quality of sculpture and paintings.
The exhibition was very well attended over two days and the Bürgermeister of Minden was highly impressed. The show was featured in the weekend press with artists’ interviews. At the close of the show the organiser, Eva Kutschera, presented certificates of participation signed by the Bürgermeister of Minden.
The German organisers are keen to build on this event, moving it to other twinned towns in future years, with their eye on Sutton.
